The deck material calculator determines quantities of all major materials for deck construction. Deck Boards = (Deck Area) ÷ [(Board Width + Gap) × Board Length] Joist Linear Feet = Joists Quantity × Joist Length Posts Needed = User input (typically calculated as posts along length × posts along width) Footing Volume = Number of Posts × Footing Depth × π × (Hole Diameter ÷ 2)² This calculator combines results from specialized calculators for boards, joists, posts, and footings to give a comprehensive material takeoff.

Assumptions

  • Deck boards include 10% waste allowance
  • Joists are evenly spaced along the deck length
  • Posts are placed at regular spacing intervals
  • Footing holes are assumed to be 12 inches diameter and circular
  • Footing depth is below the frost line (verify local code)
  • Post quantity should be calculated separately and entered
  • Material costs not included - use individual calculators for pricing
